From Victorian to Hippie Floral Prints for 2005

4 Apr 2006

Spring is in the air and we are seeing the runway adorned with garments from Victorian to Hippie floral prints for 2005. Inspired by the 18th century Victorian era, these upholstery style prints are sweeping the runways and your local boutiques. We are seeing prints taken from wall paper designs such as the Katsushika Hokusai floral wood block print from 1834, the fourteenth century lotus flower silk hanging scroll, Martin Johnson Heade’s Study of an orchid dating to 1872, Klimt’s Mada Primavesi from 1912, and prints from the renaissance era with fabulous large florals. But wait, lets not forget the prints from the hippie era which have been entwined into the past, present, and future. Inspired by tradition from eras long gone, recreated by designers for trendy modern fashion statements.

These wonderful fabrics work for everyone, every age group and every figure. The prints range from bold and graphic to soft subtle and very Victorian. Perfect for an ultra-feminine spring look. How to wear them is simple. Mix bold with simple – contrast is important. Don’t dress from head to toe in a bold floral. Think of yourself as a flower garden with garden variety.

Add the right shoes, stiletto’s, wedge’s, flat sandals. Calvin Klein, has a fabulous selection of shoes for this season. This years shoe collections are as big as your imagination. Floral skirt how about silk/satin shoes, plain dress, how about adding bold floral shoes. It’s a fun season! Don’t forget to add handbag – be it Veneta, Celine, or any other designer style.

For that finished polished look don’t forget your jewelry – add earrings, bracelet, necklace, mix and match to complete your style. Chandelier earrings are very big this season, pearls have had a complete make over and are on the “hot necklace” list, and plenty of bangles are in.

Don’t worry, if designer items are out of your budge, check what the designers have put together, then go shopping for similar non designer items.

You are your own women with your own personality and your own style, so make your fashion statement!
